Oh so clever

Okay, so I'm back. Kudos for me.

Anyway, in case you're curious, I recently finished beating the hell out of a basic Blogger template so the CMU Department of History could have a news and announcements blog that looks almost seamlessly like it's a part of the regular site (key word: almost). You can check it out here.

Some notes

Okay, first of all, I've updated my CV, which you can check out using the link under my profile stuff (or just click here).

Second of all, I finished the main redesign of the CMU Department of History website, and if I do say so myself, I like the look of it. The main picture used for the background is a shot of the curved windows of CMU's Park Library, a picture I took a couple of days ago. Check it out and tell me what you think.

Center for Transnational and Comparative History

Not that I'm some professional web designer or anything (because I'm not), but I have been playing around in the web design arena lately. Head on over to the website for Central Michigan University Department of History's Center for Transnational and Comparative History. That's all me. Because of the opacity issue in Mozilla, Firefox doesn't render the transparency, so to get the full effect, use the horrible Internet Explorer.

Yes, I know it isn't fully compliant (i.e. it still uses some tables for layout), but I don't care. I'm still learning css.

Very soon, the CMU Department of History will also have a newly designed website by yours truly as well, so watch for that as well.

Graduation!

Hmm, I think someone graduated with his Ph.D. the other day ... maybe yesterday. I wonder who it could be.


That would be me with my crippled mother (she broke her foot a few weeks ago, hence my holding her up). The photographer was *supposed* to take the picture without including my holding of my mom's crutches, but well, it's so hard to follow directions, isn't it.

And that stupid gown makes me look huge. I'm not that thick. Honest!

Anyway, mazal tov to me.

I see by the surge in stat hits earlier today from the cmich.edu domain that the unthinkable has finally happened: students have found my blog.
